Common Name: Dwarf Zieria (Zieria littoralis)
Description:
Dwarf Zieria is a compact, evergreen native shrub noted for its soft, velvety foliage and delicate flowers. It features grey-green, trifoliate leaves covered in fine hairs, creating a plush texture and silvered appearance. From winter to early summer, clusters of small star-shaped flowers appear in shades ranging from snow-white to pale pink, adding subtle seasonal interest. Naturally found on exposed coastal headlands, this hardy plant tolerates wind, salt spray, and poor, sandy soils. It thrives in Melbourne conditions, growing best in full sun to part shade. Once established, it is drought and frost tolerant and requires little maintenance. It's ideal for rockeries, coastal gardens, groundcover, or containers and provides excellent habitat and nectar for pollinators.
