Common Name:
Tulbaghia BORDER STARS® ‘Silver Lace’ (commonly known as Variegated Society Garlic)

Description:
Tulbaghia BORDER STARS® ‘Silver Lace’ is an attractive, clump-forming perennial prized for its slender, variegated grass-like foliage that combines soft green with striking creamy white margins, creating bright, year-round visual interest in garden beds, edges, and containers. In spring and continuing through summer to autumn, it produces airy umbels of delicate, star-shaped lavender to lilac-pink flowers held aloft on slender stems, adding elegant colour above the foliage. When the leaves or stems are bruised, they emit a mild garlic scent, which can help deter pests such as rabbits and deer. ‘Silver Lace’ thrives in well-drained soil in full sun to part shade and is hardy and low maintenance. Once established, it tolerates heat and periods of drought, making it a smart choice for Melbourne’s changing conditions. Ideal for edging, borders, mass plantings, or decorative pots, this variety combines ornamental charm with practical resilience.
