Common Name:
Society Garlic
Description:
Tulbaghia 'Galaxy' is a robust, clump-forming perennial celebrated for its fine, grass-like blue-green foliage and striking star-shaped mauve-pink flowers. Flowering from spring through to late winter, it offers a prolonged display that adds vibrant colour and texture to Melbourne gardens. The plant thrives in full sun to part shade and is exceptionally drought-tolerant once established. Its compact growth habit makes it ideal for borders, rockeries, containers, and as an edging plant. 'Galaxy' performs well in a variety of soil types, preferring well-drained soils enriched with compost. An application of slow-release fertiliser in early spring promotes vigorous growth and flowering. Pruning is generally not required, but removing spent flowers can encourage further blooming.
