Common Name:
Blue Chalk Sticks

Description:
Senecio ‘Blue Chalk Sticks’ is a striking, low-growing succulent known for its powdery blue, finger-like foliage that forms dense, spreading mats of colour and texture. A popular choice for contemporary landscapes, rockeries, borders and container gardens, this hardy groundcover thrives in Melbourne’s climate with minimal care. The foliage retains its vibrant blue hue year-round, particularly when grown in full sun, and develops a silvery sheen that intensifies in dry conditions. During summer, small white flowers may appear, though the plant is grown primarily for its foliage. ‘Blue Chalk Sticks’ is exceptionally drought-tolerant once established and prefers well-drained soil, making it ideal for coastal gardens, dry zones, and water-wise landscapes. Its compact, spreading habit also helps to suppress weeds and stabilise soil on banks or slopes.
