Description:
Sedum spectabile ‘Brilliant’ is a highly popular upright succulent perennial known for its large, vivid rosy-pink flower heads and sturdy, fleshy blue-green foliage. This improved selection is especially valued for its brighter flower colour and strong garden performance, providing a bold and reliable display from late summer into autumn. In Melbourne, it thrives in a full sun position with well-drained soil and is ideal for borders, cottage gardens, gravel gardens, and decorative pots. The broad, flat flower heads are rich in nectar and attract bees and other beneficial pollinators, while also holding their form well into the cooler months for extended visual interest. Its upright growth habit and contrasting foliage make it an excellent structural plant within mixed plantings. Once established, it is drought tolerant and requires minimal care, with old growth best cut back in winter or early spring to encourage fresh new shoots.
