Common Name: Six-Angled Stonecrop, Watch Chain Sedum
Description: Sedum sexangulare, commonly known as Six-Angled Stonecrop, is a hardy, low-growing succulent ground cover known for its dense, bright green, cylindrical foliage that turns golden-yellow in full sun. This mat-forming perennial thrives in Melbourne’s climate, preferring well-drained soil and full sun but tolerating part shade. In summer, it produces clusters of small, star-shaped yellow flowers that attract bees and other pollinators. Highly drought-tolerant and low-maintenance, it is an excellent choice for rock gardens, green roofs, pathways, and container plantings. Its spreading nature makes it ideal for erosion control, filling gaps between stepping stones, or cascading over walls.
