Common Name:
Dragon’s Blood Stonecrop
Description:
Sedum ‘Dragon’s Blood’ is a tough, spreading succulent ground cover prized for its rich seasonal foliage colour and clusters of rosy-red flowers. This low-growing variety forms a dense mat of fleshy green leaves that deepen to bronze, burgundy, and crimson tones during cooler weather, creating year-round visual interest. In Melbourne, it performs best in a full sun position with sharply drained soil and is exceptionally well suited to rockeries, edging, retaining walls, gravel gardens, green roofs, and waterwise plantings. During summer, it produces flat clusters of star-shaped pink to deep red flowers that are highly attractive to bees and other beneficial insects. Once established, it is highly drought tolerant and requires very little maintenance, making it an excellent option for low-care landscapes and feature pots. Its spreading habit also makes it useful for softening hard edges and filling dry, exposed spaces.
