Common Name:
Maialen (no widely used alternative common name)
Description:
Sedeveria ‘Maialen’ is a charming succulent hybrid between Echeveria and Sedum, forming tight rosettes of fleshy, lime-green leaves that develop red or orange-tinged tips under bright light or cooler temperatures. Rosettes typically reach around 7 cm in diameter on stems that can trail or clump with age. In early spring, it sends up tall stalks carrying clusters of pale yellow, bell-shaped flowers that appeal to pollinators like hoverflies. This plant thrives in well-draining soil and requires minimal water, making it suited to rockeries, containers, or succulent gardens. It enjoys full sun to part shade, favouring morning sunlight during hot summer months to avoid leaf scorch. While not frost-hardy, established plants tolerate light frost down to around 1 °C; younger plants should be sheltered.
