Common Name:
Rose 'Thomas à Becket'

Description:
Rose 'Thomas à Becket' is a distinctive English shrub rose bred by David Austin, introduced in 2013. This variety stands out with its striking crimson-red blooms that open into informal rosettes, each petal gently reflexing as the flower matures. The medium-sized flowers are borne in medium to large clusters, nodding gracefully on the stems, and exude a medium-strength old rose fragrance with notable lemon zest undertones. 'Thomas à Becket' exhibits a natural, shrubby growth habit, reminiscent of species roses, forming a bushy and informal shrub. It blooms repeatedly from late spring through to early autumn, providing a continuous display of vibrant colour. Thriving in Melbourne's climate, this rose prefers full sun and well-drained, fertile soil. Its robust nature and unique appearance make it an excellent choice for mixed borders, informal hedging, or as a standalone specimen in the garden.
