Common Name:
Charles de Gaulle Rose
Description:
The Charles de Gaulle Rose is a sophisticated hybrid tea rose admired for its unique, silvery-lilac blooms and intensely sweet, citrus-violet fragrance. Developed in France and named in honour of the iconic French general, this rose brings a sense of refinement and distinction to the garden. The large, high-centred flowers are borne singly or in small clusters, making them ideal for cutting and display. Blooming from late spring through to autumn, it provides a long-lasting show with repeat flowering under Melbourne conditions. This variety prefers full sun and well-drained soil, and regular deadheading will help prolong its floral display. Its upright, bushy habit and dense foliage create a striking presence in rose beds, mixed borders, or as a standalone specimen. The pastel-mauve colouring of Charles de Gaulle is particularly beautiful in twilight or morning light, where it seems to glow with an ethereal quality.
