Common Name:
Chinese Pistachio
Description:
Pistacia chinensis, commonly known as the Chinese Pistachio, is a hardy, deciduous tree highly valued for its spectacular autumn foliage, drought tolerance, and adaptability to urban environments. This medium-sized tree develops an attractive, rounded canopy and produces glossy, pinnate leaves that turn brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow in autumn. During spring, it bears inconspicuous greenish flowers, followed by small red berries on female trees that mature to blue-black, attracting birds. The Chinese Pistachio thrives in well-drained soils and prefers full sun, making it an excellent choice for street plantings, parks, and large gardens. It is highly resistant to pests and diseases and can tolerate heat, wind, and moderate drought conditions. Once established, it requires little maintenance apart from occasional pruning to maintain structure.
