Description: The Loma Linda Southwestern White Pine (Pinus strobiformis 'Loma Linda') is a compact, evergreen conifer known for its dense, broad pyramidal form and soft, silver-blue foliage. This dwarf variety, introduced by Jerry Morris, originated from a witch's broom found near La Junta Canyon, New Mexico. Its dense branching and multiple buds at the shoot tips contribute to its fluffy appearance. In Melbourne's climate, it thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, tolerating drier conditions better than other white pine cultivars. Over a decade, it typically reaches a height of approximately 1.8 metres and a width of about 0.9 metres, making it an excellent choice for small gardens or as a specimen plant.
