Common Name:
Cape Fuchsia ‘Moonraker’

Description:
Phygelius ‘Moonraker’ is a striking semi-evergreen shrub admired for its unusual creamy-yellow, tubular flowers that droop elegantly from tall stems over a long flowering season. Commonly known as Cape Fuchsia, this South African native has been cultivated for its ornamental value and ability to thrive in a range of climates, including Melbourne's temperate conditions. ‘Moonraker’ produces a lush mound of green foliage, with flower spikes emerging in late spring and continuing through summer and into autumn, especially if regularly deadheaded. It prefers a position in full sun to part shade and thrives in fertile, well-drained soil with moderate watering. While not a true fuchsia, its bell-shaped flowers resemble them and are highly attractive to nectar-feeding birds, bees, and butterflies. Perfect for mixed borders, cottage gardens, and wildlife-friendly plantings, Phygelius ‘Moonraker’ brings soft colour and a graceful vertical element to the landscape.
