Common Name:
Cream Variegated Mountain Flax
Description:
Phormium cookianum ‘Ivory Streak’ is an elegant and compact New Zealand flax, valued for its soft, arching foliage striped with creamy-white and green tones. This refined variety forms a neat, clumping habit that brings light and texture to garden spaces, making it ideal for borders, feature planting and decorative containers. Compared to larger flax varieties, ‘Ivory Streak’ has a more graceful and relaxed form, with finer leaves that move gently in the wind. Well suited to Melbourne conditions, it performs best in full sun to part shade with well-drained soil, and tolerates coastal exposure, wind and periods of dryness once established. Mature plants may produce slender flower spikes in summer, bearing tubular blooms that attract birds. Its subtle colouring makes it a versatile choice for both contemporary and cottage-style landscapes.
