Common Name:
Beardtongue 'Alice Hindley'
Description:
Penstemon 'Alice Hindley' is a graceful, semi-evergreen perennial known for its elegant spikes of trumpet-shaped flowers in soft lilac with a striking white throat. Blooming prolifically from late spring through to autumn, it brings long-lasting colour and vertical interest to garden beds and borders. The glossy mid-green foliage forms a bushy, upright clump that stays neat throughout the season. Well suited to Melbourne’s climate, this variety prefers full sun to part shade and well-drained soil. Once established, it is drought-tolerant and requires little maintenance. Regular deadheading encourages more blooms, and a light prune in early spring helps maintain its shape. It also attracts bees and other beneficial pollinators, making it both a practical and beautiful addition to wildlife-friendly gardens.
