One of my all time favourite plants to topiarise & hedge.
The plants pictured in the cream pots are of a job I used these for in Albert Park a few years ago. It was a rooftop balcony for an elderly couple that needed something elegant, but also tough, as they couldn't use automated irrigation and they travelled extensively.
"Bambalina" worked a treat, and I can happily report that they are still there today and thriving.
The 40cm topiary plants currently available at $80 each will be $320 once they get an extra flush of growth. This grower has another batch coming through and needs to make space. This is the ONLY reason they are so cheap right now.
NOW is a great time to get a bargain, especially if you've been wanting to do a project that needs a lot of them. You'll save a bucket load!
Common Name:
Dwarf Olive 'Bambalina'
Description:
Olea europaea 'Bambalina' is a compact, evergreen olive cultivar renowned for its dense, silver-grey foliage and minimal fruiting. This ornamental variety is ideal for Melbourne's climate, thriving in full sun and well-drained soils. Its slow to moderate growth habit makes it perfect for hedging, topiary, and container planting. 'Bambalina' responds well to pruning, allowing it to be maintained at a desired shape and size. While it may produce occasional small fruits, it is primarily grown for its aesthetic appeal rather than fruit production. Its resilience to drought and frost, once established, makes it a low-maintenance choice for various garden settings.
