Common Name: Red Mizuna
Description:
Red Mizuna (Brassica rapa var. nipposinica) is a fast-growing, cool-season leafy green with deeply serrated burgundy to purple-red leaves. This Japanese mustard green has a mildly peppery, slightly spicy flavour, making it a popular addition to salads, stir-fries, and soups. Thriving in Melbourne’s climate, Red Mizuna grows best in full sun to part shade with moist, well-drained soil. It is highly productive, with leaves that can be harvested continuously for extended periods. A resilient and cold-tolerant plant, it can be grown year-round in mild conditions and is an excellent choice for container gardening.
