Common Name:
Mizuna

Description:
Mizuna is a fast-growing Asian leafy green, prized for its finely serrated, feathery foliage and mild, peppery flavour. This versatile annual forms a loose rosette of bright green leaves that add both texture and visual appeal to salads, stir-fries, and mixed greens. It is particularly valued for its ability to be harvested repeatedly, with young leaves offering a tender, delicate taste and mature leaves providing a slightly įƒ£įƒ¤įƒ įƒ robust flavour. In Melbourne’s climate, Mizuna thrives in full sun to part shade and prefers cool conditions with well-drained, fertile soil. It grows best through autumn, winter, and spring, and is relatively quick to mature, making it ideal for succession planting. While it may produce small yellow flowers if allowed to bolt, it is primarily grown for its foliage and productivity in edible gardens and pots.
