Common Name:
Sarabande Maiden Grass
Description:
Miscanthus sinensis 'Sarabande' is a tall, elegant ornamental grass prized for its fine, arching green foliage and graceful, upright habit. It brings height, movement and structure to garden designs, making it an excellent feature or background plant in borders and large landscape settings. In Melbourne conditions, it thrives in full sun with well-drained soil and is tolerant of a range of soil types once established. From late summer into autumn, it produces soft, feathery flower plumes that emerge with a reddish tint before maturing to silvery tones, adding seasonal interest and catching the light beautifully. As a deciduous grass, it dies back in winter and regenerates fresh growth in spring. 'Sarabande' is valued for its resilience, low maintenance requirements, and ability to provide year-round interest through both foliage and seed heads.
