Common Name:
Sugar Tyme Crab Apple

Description:
Malus ‘Sutyzam’, marketed as Sugar Tyme®, is a highly ornamental deciduous crab apple tree celebrated for its masses of pure white spring blossoms, persistent bright red fruit, and excellent disease resistance. This elegant small tree develops a neat rounded canopy with lush green foliage that remains attractive throughout the growing season before turning warm golden-yellow tones in autumn. In spring, the branches are covered in abundant fragrant white flowers that attract bees and beneficial pollinators, creating a spectacular seasonal display. Following flowering, clusters of glossy bright red crab apples develop and persist well into winter, providing long-lasting ornamental interest and attracting birds to the garden. Sugar Tyme® performs exceptionally well in Melbourne’s climate, thriving in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil and regular watering during establishment. Its tidy growth habit and reliable performance make it ideal for avenue planting, feature planting, cottage gardens, and smaller residential landscapes. With strong multi-season appeal and low maintenance requirements, it is one of the most popular ornamental crab apples for modern gardens.
