Common Name:
Raspberry Spear Crab Apple

Description:
Malus ‘JFS-KW213MX’, marketed as Raspberry Spear™, is a striking upright ornamental crab apple tree valued for its narrow columnar growth habit, colourful foliage, and vibrant seasonal display. This deciduous tree produces rich purple-red new foliage in spring, which matures to deep burgundy-green tones through summer before developing warm autumn colour. In spring, masses of fragrant deep pink to reddish-purple blossoms cover the branches, attracting bees and other beneficial pollinators. These are followed by persistent small glossy red crab apples that provide ornamental interest into winter and attract birds to the garden. Raspberry Spear™ is particularly suited to Melbourne’s climate, thriving in full sun with well-drained soil and benefiting from regular watering during establishment. Its slim upright form makes it ideal for narrow spaces, avenue planting, screening, feature planting, and compact gardens. With excellent disease resistance and strong ornamental appeal throughout the seasons, it is an outstanding low-maintenance feature tree for modern landscapes.
