Common Name: Kay Parris Magnolia
Description:
Magnolia grandiflora 'Kay Parris' is a compact, evergreen magnolia prized for its glossy green foliage, striking creamy white flowers, and improved tolerance to heat and humidity. This variety is a refined selection of the Southern Magnolia, featuring a dense, upright growth habit with attractive wavy-edged leaves that have a rich coppery-brown underside. From late spring through summer, it produces large, highly fragrant, creamy white flowers that attract bees and birds. Thriving in Melbourne’s climate, 'Kay Parris' grows well in full sun to part shade and prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soil. It is an excellent choice for feature planting, hedging, screening, or growing in large pots. Compared to other Magnolia grandiflora varieties, 'Kay Parris' is more compact and faster-growing, with excellent wind and drought tolerance once established.
