Description:
Lobularia PRINCESS 'Lavender' is a vigorous, spreading and cascading perennial sweet alyssum grown for its profusion of small lavender-purple flowers and exceptionally long flowering season. The densely clustered blooms form a soft carpet over fine green foliage and have a pleasantly sweet fragrance, while also attracting bees and other beneficial pollinators. Its naturally trailing habit makes it particularly effective in hanging baskets, containers, window boxes, raised beds and as a flowering ground cover. In Melbourne, it performs best in full sun to part shade in fertile, well-drained soil with regular moisture, particularly during prolonged hot weather. Flowering can extend from spring through summer and autumn, with blooms possible for much of the year under favourable conditions. A light trim when plants become untidy encourages fresh, compact growth and renewed flowering. More vigorous than many traditional alyssums, 'Lavender' is an excellent choice for creating abundant, low-maintenance colour that spills attractively over pots, walls and garden edges.
