Common Name:
Sweet Alyssum ‘Blushing Princess’
Description:
Lobularia ‘Blushing Princess’ is a compact, trailing perennial renowned for its dense clusters of fragrant, soft mauve-pink blooms that flower continuously through the warmer months. A modern, sterile hybrid bred for prolific blooming and extended performance, ‘Blushing Princess’ produces mounds of honey-scented flowers that attract bees and other beneficial pollinators. In Melbourne gardens, this plant thrives in full sun to part shade and appreciates regular watering in well-drained soil, although it is surprisingly tolerant of heat and light drought once established. Unlike older alyssum varieties, ‘Blushing Princess’ doesn’t set seed, which means it blooms longer without becoming untidy. Ideal for borders, hanging baskets, window boxes, or spilling over retaining walls, it’s also excellent as a soft underplanting around roses or larger perennials. With its gentle blush tones and vigorous flowering habit, it adds texture, colour, and fragrance to any sunny garden space.
