Common Name:
Lampranthus EXPLOSION® ‘Red’
Red Ice Plant
Description:
Lampranthus EXPLOSION® ‘Red’ is a compact, spreading succulent ground cover grown for its spectacular display of brilliant red, daisy-like flowers. The intensely coloured blooms are produced in abundance above dense, fleshy green foliage, creating an eye-catching carpet of colour in sunny garden positions. Particularly effective in rockeries, along retaining walls, on embankments, in coastal-style landscapes and spilling from pots, it provides excellent colour while requiring relatively little maintenance. In Melbourne, EXPLOSION® ‘Red’ performs best in full sun and freely draining soil, where flowering is at its most prolific and the foliage remains compact. Once established, it has good drought tolerance and is well suited to water-wise gardens. Its main floral display occurs during spring, with flowering often continuing into summer under favourable conditions. Avoid waterlogged or persistently wet soil, particularly during Melbourne's cool, wet winters.
