Lagerstroemia ‘Purple Magic’ is a compact deciduous crepe myrtle prized for its vivid deep purple flowers, dense growth habit, and outstanding summer performance. This eye-catching variety produces abundant clusters of richly coloured blooms from summer through to autumn, creating a bold display against its lush dark green foliage. The compact, rounded form makes it especially well suited to smaller gardens, borders, mass plantings, and decorative pots. In autumn, the foliage develops attractive warm tones before dropping to reveal the smooth ornamental bark during winter. ‘Purple Magic’ thrives in Melbourne’s climate, preferring full sun and well-drained soil. It is highly tolerant of heat and humidity and develops good drought tolerance once established. With excellent disease resistance and minimal maintenance requirements, this variety is ideal for modern landscapes, low-maintenance gardens, and colourful seasonal displays.
