Description:
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Magical Pearl' PBR is a stunning, compact deciduous shrub celebrated for its large, rounded flower heads that undergo a beautiful colour transformation throughout the flowering season. Initially emerging in soft lime-green tones, the blooms develop into a brilliant pearl-white before gradually ageing to an elegant chartreuse green. These long-lasting flowers are held proudly on strong, sturdy stems above lush, deep green foliage, creating a spectacular display from summer through to autumn. Its naturally rounded, bushy growth habit makes it an excellent choice for shaded garden beds, cottage gardens, borders, courtyard plantings and decorative pots. The flowers are also ideal for fresh floral arrangements and dried bouquets, retaining their ornamental appeal well beyond the flowering season. Particularly well-suited to Melbourne's temperate climate, 'Magical Pearl' thrives in part shade, preferably with gentle morning sunlight and protection from harsh afternoon sun. It prefers fertile, moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter and benefits from regular watering and mulching during warmer months. Flowering on both old and new wood, this relatively low-maintenance variety requires minimal pruning, with occasional deadheading and light shaping sufficient to maintain its attractive form. Its elegant white blooms, changing seasonal colours and compact size make 'Magical Pearl' a beautiful addition to both traditional and contemporary gardens.
