Description:
Helichrysum ‘Silvio’ is a compact, evergreen perennial grown primarily for its striking silvery-white foliage and soft, textural appearance. Its narrow, densely arranged leaves are covered with fine hairs, giving the plant a luminous silver finish that provides excellent contrast against green foliage and brightly coloured flowers. Naturally neat and mounding, ‘Silvio’ is particularly effective in pots, mixed containers, borders, rockeries and Mediterranean-style gardens. Small yellow flower heads may appear during the warmer months, although the foliage remains its main ornamental feature. In Melbourne, ‘Silvio’ performs best in full sun, where its foliage develops its strongest silver colouring, and prefers light, free-draining soil. It is tolerant of heat, coastal conditions and periods of dryness once established, but dislikes persistently wet or poorly drained soil, particularly during winter. Light trimming helps maintain a dense, compact shape and encourages fresh silvery growth.
