Common Name:
Licorice Plant
Description:
Helichrysum petiolare, commonly known as the Licorice Plant, is a fast-growing, evergreen trailing shrub with soft, silver-grey foliage that adds a beautiful contrast to garden beds and containers. Although it is primarily grown for its attractive foliage, it occasionally produces small, inconspicuous yellow flowers in summer. This hardy and drought-tolerant plant thrives in well-drained soil and prefers full sun to part shade. It is an excellent choice for cascading over walls, filling hanging baskets, or as a ground cover to suppress weeds. Well-suited to Melbourne’s climate, it can withstand coastal conditions and light frosts. Regular pruning helps maintain its shape and encourages dense growth.
