Description:
Helianthemum 'Wisley Primrose' is a compact, spreading evergreen to semi-evergreen shrub prized for its masses of delicate, primrose-yellow flowers and attractive grey-green foliage. The saucer-shaped blooms feature five slightly crinkled petals surrounding prominent golden-yellow stamens, creating a bright display above the low-growing foliage. Flowering is most prolific from late spring through summer in Melbourne, particularly when plants receive plenty of sunshine. Well suited to rockeries, retaining walls, garden borders, gravel gardens and containers, 'Wisley Primrose' develops into a neat, spreading mound and can soften edges or spill attractively over walls. It performs best in full sun and freely draining soil and, once established, has good tolerance of heat, dry conditions and relatively poor soils. Avoid waterlogged positions, particularly during Melbourne's cool, wet winters. Light trimming after the main flowering period helps maintain a dense, compact habit and encourages fresh growth.
