Common Name:
Grevillea 'New Blood'
Description:
Grevillea 'New Blood' is a compact, evergreen groundcover shrub, reaching approximately 25 centimetres in height and spreading up to 1.5 metres in width. It showcases vibrant deep red, spider-like flowers predominantly from autumn through spring, with sporadic blooming throughout the year, attracting nectar-feeding birds and beneficial insects to the garden. The plant features fine, needle-like, mid to dark green foliage, providing a lush backdrop to its striking blooms. Thriving in well-drained soils, 'New Blood' prefers full sun but can tolerate partial shade, making it well-suited to Melbourne's climate. Once established, it exhibits excellent drought and frost tolerance. Minimal maintenance is required; however, light pruning after flowering encourages denser growth and maintains its shape. 'New Blood' is an excellent choice for use as a groundcover, in rockeries, containers, or as a feature plant in native garden designs.
