Common Name:
Hop Goodenia 'Gold Cover'
Description:
Goodenia ovata 'Gold Cover' is a dense, prostrate form of the Australian native Hop Goodenia, valued for its vibrant yellow flowers, vigorous ground-hugging growth, and adaptability across a range of garden conditions. This cultivar was selected for its improved spreading habit and ability to quickly form a lush carpet of glossy green foliage, making it ideal for erosion control, large-scale native landscapes, and low-maintenance ground cover solutions. Flowering from spring through summer, 'Gold Cover' produces masses of bright, golden-yellow fan-shaped flowers that contrast beautifully with its foliage and attract native bees and beneficial insects. It thrives in full sun to part shade and is well suited to Melbourne’s climate, tolerating both dry periods and occasional frost. Once established, it requires little maintenance aside from occasional pruning to tidy or control spread. Its lush, trailing form also works well cascading over retaining walls or filling in difficult garden edges and slopes.
