Common Name:
Silky Eremophila
Description:
Eremophila nivea is a striking Australian native shrub renowned for its soft, silvery-white foliage and vibrant purple to lilac tubular flowers. The dense covering of fine hairs on its leaves gives the plant a velvety texture and luminous appearance, making it a standout feature in any garden. Flowering primarily from winter through spring, it produces an abundance of nectar-rich blooms that contrast beautifully against the pale foliage. Well suited to Melbourne conditions, it thrives in full sun and requires excellent drainage, performing best in sandy or gravelly soils. It is highly drought tolerant once established but does not tolerate heavy or poorly drained soils. With a naturally rounded habit, it benefits from light pruning after flowering to maintain its shape and encourage bushier growth. Ideal for native gardens, feature planting, and dry landscapes, it also attracts birds and pollinators.
