Common Name:
Golden Pothos / Devil's Ivy
Description:
Epipremnum aureum, commonly known as Golden Pothos or Devil's Ivy, is a highly adaptable, fast-growing plant celebrated for its trailing or climbing habit and striking foliage. Its glossy, heart-shaped leaves are variegated with golden-yellow streaks, giving it a vibrant, tropical appearance perfect for indoor or sheltered outdoor spaces. Originating from Southeast Asia, Devil's Ivy is a staple in Melbourne homes and offices due to its tolerance of low light, minimal care requirements, and excellent air-purifying qualities. It thrives in bright, indirect light but also tolerates part shade and low-light conditions, making it suitable for virtually any room. Best grown in well-drained soil and kept slightly moist, it can be trained to climb up supports or trail gracefully from shelves, pots, or hanging baskets. Though flowering is extremely rare in cultivation and does not occur under Melbourne’s conditions, its lush foliage is the main attraction. Growth is most active in the warmer months of spring and summer.
