Common Name: Firecracker Foxglove
Description:
Digiplexis ‘Firecracker’ is a stunning hybrid foxglove, combining the best traits of Digitalis and Isoplexis species. This vigorous and long-blooming perennial produces tall spikes of tubular, fiery orange-red flowers with golden throats, creating a dramatic display from late spring through to autumn. The blooms attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, making it an excellent choice for wildlife-friendly gardens. ‘Firecracker’ thrives in full sun to part shade and prefers well-drained, fertile soil. It is more heat-tolerant than traditional foxgloves, making it well-suited to Melbourne’s climate. Regular deadheading encourages continuous flowering, while its upright form adds vertical interest to garden beds and borders.
