Description:
Dianthus 'Double Crown Magenta' is a compact, free-flowering perennial Dianthus valued for its richly coloured double magenta blooms and neat, mounding habit. The densely petalled flowers are held above attractive grey-green foliage, creating an eye-catching display in garden borders, rockeries, cottage gardens and containers. Flowering predominantly from spring through summer, with further blooms possible into autumn when regularly deadheaded, it provides a long season of colour and is attractive to bees and other beneficial pollinators. In Melbourne, 'Double Crown Magenta' performs best in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil and benefits from good air circulation. Once established it has moderate tolerance of dry conditions, but performs best with regular watering during extended hot or dry periods. Avoid waterlogged soils, particularly over winter.
