Common Name:
Larkspur ‘Chantay’ (Delphinium DELGENIUS™ ‘Chantay’)
Description:
Delphinium DELGENIUS™ ‘Chantay’ is a compact and modern larkspur cultivar known for its exceptional garden performance and vivid floral display. It forms a neat, clumping mound of finely divided green foliage and produces strong, upright stems that support large spires of semi-double rose-pink flowers with prominent white centres. Unlike older delphinium varieties, ‘Chantay’ has been bred for improved resilience, better heat tolerance, and stronger stems that don’t require staking under normal conditions. Flowering begins in late spring and extends through summer, with the potential for a second flush in early autumn if deadheaded. Ideal for use in Melbourne gardens, it thrives in fertile, well-drained soils with consistent moisture. It prefers a position with full sun exposure but benefits from afternoon shade during the hottest part of the day. Its compact habit makes it suitable for borders, mixed beds, and decorative pots, adding vertical interest and cottage charm with minimal maintenance.
