Common Name: Coffin Bay Correa
Description: Correa pulchella 'Coffin Bay' is a low-growing, evergreen shrub native to the Coffin Bay region in South Australia. It reaches approximately 50–70 cm in height and spreads up to 80 cm wide, featuring glossy, mid-green foliage. From autumn through early spring, this plant produces abundant, brilliant pink, pendulous, bell-shaped flowers, adding vibrant colour to gardens during these seasons. Thriving in Melbourne's climate, 'Coffin Bay' prefers well-drained soils and can be planted in full sun or part shade. It is well-suited to coastal conditions and, once established, exhibits moderate drought tolerance. An annual prune helps maintain its bushy habit. This variety is ideal for use in rockeries, as a small hedge, or in containers, and is known to attract native birds, enhancing its ecological value.
