Common Name:
Summer Sky Leadwort

Description:
Ceratostigma ‘Summer Sky’ is a compact, deciduous shrub or ground cover admired for its vibrant blue flowers and fiery autumn foliage. This versatile and hardy plant puts on a show from late summer through to autumn with masses of rich cobalt-blue flowers that sit atop bright green leaves. As the season cools, the foliage transforms into shades of red, copper, and bronze, adding spectacular contrast and interest to the garden. Perfectly suited to Melbourne’s temperate conditions, ‘Summer Sky’ performs best in full sun to part shade and thrives in well-drained soils. It is drought-tolerant once established and copes well with coastal exposure and light frosts. Ideal for borders, slopes, underplanting of taller shrubs, or spilling over walls, this low-maintenance cultivar provides long-lasting seasonal appeal and reliable ground coverage. It responds well to pruning in late winter to early spring before new growth appears.
