Common Name:
Bluebeard
Blue Mist Shrub
Description:
Caryopteris x clandonensis ‘Hint of Gold’ is a compact deciduous shrub grown for its glowing golden foliage and masses of rich blue flowers that appear from late summer into autumn. The bright yellow to lime-gold leaves bring standout colour through the warmer months, while the soft, fluffy flower clusters provide a striking contrast and are highly attractive to bees and other pollinators. This variety forms a neat, bushy mound, making it an excellent choice for borders, cottage-style plantings, pollinator gardens, low informal hedging, and feature pots. In Melbourne, it performs best in a sunny position with well-drained soil and benefits from a light prune in late winter to encourage fresh growth and strong flowering. Once established it is reasonably hardy and copes well with dry periods, though it will look its best with occasional deep watering during extended heat.
