Description: Carex testacea, commonly known as Orange New Zealand Sedge, is an evergreen, tufted perennial sedge native to New Zealand. It forms dense, arching mounds of fine, grass-like foliage that transitions from pale olive-green in the warmer months to vibrant coppery-orange hues during cooler seasons, especially when exposed to full sun. Inconspicuous brown flower spikes emerge in early summer, with stems that gracefully droop as they mature. This ornamental sedge adds year-round interest to gardens with its striking color and texture.
