Common Name:
Common name – Weeping Sasanqua Camellia

Description:
Camellia sasanqua ‘Chansonette’ is a beautiful low-growing and spreading camellia variety prized for its elegant cascading habit and prolific display of soft shell-pink semi-double flowers. Blooming from autumn through to early winter, the flowers feature gently ruffled petals with golden yellow stamens, creating a delicate and romantic appearance. Its glossy dark green evergreen foliage forms a dense, layered mound, making it an excellent choice for mass planting, low hedging, embankments, retaining walls, or spilling gracefully over garden edges. ‘Chansonette’ performs exceptionally well in Melbourne’s climate and is more sun tolerant than many camellia varieties, thriving in full sun to part shade with well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Its hardy nature, extended flowering season, and attractive weeping growth habit make it a standout addition to both formal and informal gardens.
