Common Name:
Sweet Burst Bottlebrush
Description:
Callistemon spp. 'Sweet Burst' PBR, commonly known as Sweet Burst Bottlebrush, is a compact, evergreen Australian native shrub renowned for its vibrant lime-green flower brushes and dense, tidy form. This cultivar is part of a newer generation of bottlebrush bred for colour diversity and improved garden performance. Flowering from late spring through summer, it produces bright, citrus-toned flower spikes that are rich in nectar and highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and nectar-feeding birds. The foliage is mid-green, lance-shaped, and aromatic when crushed, providing a fine-textured backdrop to the luminous blooms. Well-suited to Melbourne’s climate, 'Sweet Burst' thrives in full sun and tolerates a range of soils, including clay, as long as they are free-draining. It’s drought-tolerant once established, responds well to pruning, and is ideal for native gardens, informal hedging, or growing in containers.
