Common Name:
Pink Bougainvillea
Description:
Bougainvillea glabra 'Pink Clusters' is a vigorous, evergreen climbing plant admired for its prolific display of vibrant pink papery bracts that surround small, creamy-white flowers. Flowering in repeated flushes from spring through to autumn, and often extending into winter during mild conditions, it creates a spectacular splash of colour over fences, walls, pergolas and arches. This fast-growing variety thrives in Melbourne when planted in a warm, sunny, sheltered position with well-drained soil. Once established, it is highly drought tolerant and requires minimal watering, making it an excellent choice for low-maintenance gardens. Regular pruning after flowering encourages a denser habit and more prolific blooming. It can also be trained as a shrub, standard or espalier, and performs well in large pots where space is limited.
