Common Name:
English Daisy

Description:
Bellis perennis is a charming, low-growing perennial commonly known as the English Daisy. Valued for its neat rosettes of spoon-shaped green leaves and masses of cheerful daisy-like flowers, it provides long-lasting colour throughout the cooler months of the year. The blooms feature bright yellow centres surrounded by white, pink or red petals depending on the variety, creating a classic cottage garden appearance. Well suited to Melbourne's climate, Bellis perennis thrives in cool conditions and is ideal for garden borders, rockeries, containers, window boxes and mass plantings. It prefers fertile, moist but well-drained soil and performs best in full sun to part shade. Regular watering and removal of spent flowers will encourage continued blooming and maintain a tidy, attractive display. Its compact habit and prolific flowering make it a popular choice for adding seasonal colour to both formal and informal garden settings.
