Common Name:
High Noon Banksia
Description:
Banksia praemorsa 'High Noon' is a striking, large shrub form of the Cut-leaf Banksia, known for its bold, lime-yellow flower spikes and lush, leathery foliage. A cultivated selection of the species native to the south coast of Western Australia, 'High Noon' offers a more compact and garden-friendly habit while maintaining the dramatic features that make Banksias so iconic. In Melbourne gardens, it performs best in full sun and well-drained soil, showcasing dense, toothed, deep green leaves and upright cylindrical flower spikes from late autumn through winter. These lemon-yellow blooms are rich in nectar and highly attractive to honeyeaters, bees, and other pollinators. The plant is drought-tolerant, wind-resistant, and can tolerate light frost once established. ‘High Noon’ makes a bold specimen, screen, or feature in native or coastal landscapes and can also be lightly pruned to maintain a bushier shape.
