Common Name:
Sea Pink
Description:
Armeria maritima, commonly known as Sea Pink or Thrift, is a compact, evergreen perennial prized for its resilience and charming floral display. Native to coastal regions, it forms dense clumps of narrow, grass-like leaves and produces globular clusters of pink flowers atop slender stems. In Melbourne's temperate climate, Sea Pink thrives in well-drained, sandy or rocky soils and is particularly tolerant of saline conditions, making it ideal for coastal gardens. Flowering from late spring through summer, it adds vibrant colour to rockeries, borders, and containers. Deadheading spent blooms can encourage a second flush of flowers. Its drought tolerance and low maintenance requirements make it a valuable addition to water-wise gardens.
