Common Name:
Arctotis 'Silverdust Glow' – African Daisy
Description:
Arctotis 'Silverdust Glow' is a spectacular, low-growing perennial ground cover renowned for its vibrant orange, daisy-like flowers and striking silvery-grey foliage. Part of the Silverdust range, this eye-catching variety produces an abundance of cheerful blooms in glowing shades of orange, apricot and golden yellow, often featuring contrasting darker centres. Its finely textured, silver-toned leaves provide year-round ornamental interest and create a beautiful contrast against the brightly coloured flowers. With its naturally spreading, mounding habit, Arctotis 'Silverdust Glow' is an excellent choice for mass planting, garden borders, rockeries, coastal landscapes and decorative containers.
Flowering predominantly from spring through summer and into autumn, this hardy perennial delivers an extended display of brilliant colour, particularly during sunny weather when its flowers open fully. Well suited to Melbourne's climate, it thrives in full sun and prefers well-drained soil, performing particularly well in sandy or moderately fertile conditions. Once established, it exhibits excellent drought tolerance and can withstand coastal exposure, making it ideal for water-wise gardens and challenging landscapes. Regular deadheading encourages continuous flowering, while occasional light pruning helps maintain a compact, dense growth habit. Growing approximately 40 cm tall and spreading up to 1 metre wide, Arctotis 'Silverdust Glow' forms an attractive carpet of silvery foliage and colourful blooms, providing effective ground coverage with minimal maintenance.
