Common Name:
Redpointe Red Maple

Description:
Acer rubrum ‘Frank Jr’, commonly sold under the trade name Redpointe Red Maple, is a fast-growing deciduous shade tree prized for its strong upright form, brilliant autumn colour, and excellent adaptability to a wide range of garden conditions. This improved red maple cultivar develops a neat pyramidal shape with a strong central leader, making it an outstanding choice for avenue planting, feature planting, larger residential gardens, parks, and commercial landscapes. Its lush green foliage emerges in spring and remains fresh through summer before transforming into spectacular shades of vivid crimson-red in autumn. Redpointe performs exceptionally well in Melbourne’s temperate climate, tolerating both occasional wet soils and periods of dry weather once established. It grows best in full sun with well-drained soil and benefits from regular watering during extended dry periods in its early years. With its tidy growth habit, strong branching structure, and reliable seasonal colour, this maple delivers impressive ornamental value throughout the year.
