Common Name:
Silver-stemmed Two-veined Hickory Wattle
Description:
Acacia binervia 'Sterling Silver' PBR is a striking Australian native shrub valued for its elegant silver-grey foliage and attractive upright form. This cultivated selection of the Two-veined Hickory Wattle has been chosen for its particularly bright, silvery new growth and refined texture, making it an excellent feature plant in modern native gardens. The narrow, softly coloured foliage provides year-round interest and contrasts beautifully with darker green plants in the landscape. In late winter through spring, the plant produces clusters of small, golden-yellow, fluffy wattle flowers that add seasonal colour while also attracting birds, bees and other beneficial pollinators. Well suited to Melbourne’s climate, it thrives in full sun to part shade and prefers well-drained soil. Once established it is relatively drought tolerant and low maintenance, making it suitable for native gardens, mixed shrub borders, screening, or large containers. Its soft silver tones and tidy habit also make it popular in contemporary garden design and coastal plantings.
